Goodreads Website Redesign

UI/UX, Responsive Design

In my Advanced Computer Graphics class, this project asked us to select a company that interests us and would be appropriate for a website refresh informed by our target audience. The final deliverables were high-fidelity mock-ups (desktop and mobile) of 3 pages: Home, About, and one of our choosing.

Timeline: September-October 2023

Role: Student

Tools: Figma

The Problem

While a beloved platform for book enthusiasts, Goodreads has several design and usability issues.

Original Site

• Dated interface that lacks modernity and charm

• Cluttered layout

• Clunky and overwhelming navigation

The Solution

A refreshed website with clear navigation and fosters community.

Reflections

This project was a great opportunity to refine my skills in information hierarchy, UI/UX design, and creating visuals that addresses the problem. It challenged me to think critically about structuring content and designing an interface that is both engaging and functional.

With more time, I would have pushed the project further by developing a fully functioning website and mobile app prototype for interactivity.
